BANNING KENT LARY has worked as a multi-media artist for over twenty-five years and has won awards as a painter, videomaker, photographer and writer. A graduate of the University of Texas, Banning studied classical painting at Mission: Renaissance in Los Angeles where he exhibited his work in various community shows from Venice to Manhattan Beach in the 1970s. While evolving artistically through various styles, Banning painted murals, worked as a contract painter, a carpenter and a writer. He has edited several magazines and published hundreds of articles and photographs in regional and national periodicals. As a videomaker, Banning has written, produced and directed over 70 documentaries that have been seen by millions of people around the world. His big, bold and rare original paintings in the style of "Cathartic Aestheticism" are prized by collectors including the late actor Richard Burton. Banning works in Austin, Texas, synthesizing a new style from of multi-media visual art from disciplines of photography, computer animation, oil pastels and acrylics.
